Well, it's been a few years and the saw is still doing good. The plastic knobs fall off occasionally as the lock-down screws get lose, but other than that things are solid. I've been extremely happy with this saw for the tasks it's been given.

This past weekend I actually bought an accessory for it, the Carter Stabilizer. Use for scroll-style cuts, this should even further increase the usefulness of the saw to me.

Blades ... I'm pretty consistent on my use. For cutting out green bowl blanks for turning and somewhat straight cuts, I've been using a 3/8" wide WoodTurner's Bandsaw Blade, with its 3 TPI, alternate set w/raker tooth pattern & stout band thickness of .032" from Highland Woodworking. Cuts like a champ and does the trick.

Beyond that, I have some smaller guys ... a 1/4" and 3/16" Timber Wolf blade (sold at Woodcraft and elsewhere). These blades cut like a sharp knife in warm butter when new and when tensioned right will last a good while. I actually picked up a few of these blades at The Woodworking Shows in Tampa last weekend too and they stocked the 131 1/2" blade.

Now that is is two+ years latter, what are your thoughts about this saw? For Grizzly's price of $1100 would you still pick this saw?

How about a review of different band saw blades for this saw and where to purchase them from. Neither Woodcraft nor Rockler (my local stores) stock this size blade.

Thank you for your time and effort to place this explanation on this saw in particular. As you know anyone serious about such a purchase, when not paid for buy the business, agaonizes over the best bang for the buck and logivity and craftsmanship. Especially coming from China.
