I just wanted it. Turns out the guy selling it to me was the inventor, and he told me about the intricacies of The Extractor, and a little about its history and development. I've been using mine for nearly two years and I just ordered two more as gifts. They're the best. I reach for this tool all the time. Don't let this out, but, it's worth a lot more than they charge... only because it's so doggone useful... and it works! Sure beats many of those "claw" things... which I also own. Don't quibble about the price... just own one or two of these and give lots of them away... you'll make plenty of friends with this gift. Sure beats a necktie or sweatshirt. So when it's time to buy a new tool, I tend to be cautious and selective. Who doesn't want the most bang for their buck? This tool is excellent and works as advertised! My preference is to buy the highest quality tool with the money that I plan to spend. This is a lifetime tool for me. It actually preforms so well that I went looking for things to use it on.
